These Peppermint Red Velvet Cookies with hot cocoa frosting, submitted by Kim V., took first place in our 2014 Holiday Cookie Recipe Contest. The judges loved the combination of holiday flavors in this fun and festive recipe. The peppermint spiked red velvet cookie base has a wonderful rich texture thanks to the combination of butter and sour cream. The chocolate buttercream frosting evokes the flavors of hot cocoa with the addition of marshmallows. Top that off with crushed peppermint candies and more marshmallows, and you’ve got a cookie that makes a wonderful holiday gift or addition to the dessert buffet.
