Ingredients

  • Topping:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • Filling:

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • Cake:

  • 12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup sour cream, at room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups milk, at room temperature

Instructions

Step 1

Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9" x 13" pan.

Topping:

Step 2

Whisk together the sugar, flour and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Stir in melted butter. Set aside.

Filling:

Step 3

Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl; set aside.

Cake:

Step 4

In a large bowl, beat the butter, sugars, salt and vanilla until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk together the sour cream and milk.

Step 6

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk/sour cream mixture, mixing until smooth.

Step 7

Spread half the batter (about 3 cups) into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the filling over the batter. Spread the remaining batter over the top of the filling. Use a knife to gently swirl the filling into the batter (like a marble cake).

Step 8

Sprinkle the topping over the batter. Bake the cake for 50-55 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
