OFFICIAL RULES
REAL BUTTER HOLIDAY COOKIE RECIPE CONTEST – 2023
The Real Butter Holiday Cookie Recipe Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by the American Butter Institute, 2107 Wilson Blvd., Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22201 (“Sponsor”).
PRIZE STRUCTURE
One (1) FIRST PLACE PRIZE: $5,000
One (1) SECOND PLACE PRIZE: $2,000
One (1) THIRD PLACE PRIZE: $1,000
One (1) UNDENIABLY DAIRY PRIZE: $500
All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply; void where prohibited. PRIZES MAY BE SUBJECT TO TAX; ALL APPLICABLE TAXES ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.
DATES OF PROMOTION: The Contest starts at 12:00:01 AM Eastern Time on September 1, 2023, and ends at 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time on November 05, 2023 (the “Entry Period”).
ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open only to individuals, eighteen (18) years or older at time of entry, who are legal residents of the United States. Employees of the American Butter Institute, subsidiaries or agents, their immediate families (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and grandparents), and those domiciled with any of the foregoing are not eligible.
ENTRY: Visit the Contest web page, https://goboldwithbutter.com/Holiday-Cookie-Recipe-Contest. Each entrant will be required to fill out the Entry Form and submit an original recipe (“Recipe”). The Recipe must:
- Include detailed, step-by-step preparation instructions
- List each ingredient in exact common U.S. household measurements and order of use in making the Recipe
- Use at least 1/2 cup Real Butter (“Product”). Actual purchase of Sponsor Products is not required to enter.
Entrants may submit as many recipes as they'd like, as long as recipes are widely different. For example, an entrant may NOT submit multiple copies of the same recipe in hopes of increasing chances, nor may they submit the same recipe with slight changes in measurements or ingredients. However, entrants MAY submit multiple recipes with different flavors and ingredients (i.e. frosted sugar cookie, chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal cookie).
If a Recipe contains a brand name product or a trademark, Sponsor may disqualify the Recipe or, at its sole discretion, remove the brand name or trademark from the Recipe prior to judging without notice to entrant. The Recipe must be an original recipe that was created by the person entering the Contest and cannot have previously won a contest or other promotion. Recipe must not have been previously published on a third-party website or blog, must not be awaiting publication, nor may be submitted for publication consideration during the Contest Period. This rule does NOT include publishing on entrant's own social media, website or blog. Entrants may submit a photograph with the Recipe, but photographs are not required to enter.
HOW TO ENTER: You may only enter electronically by completing the form at https://goboldwithbutter.com/Holiday-Cookie-Recipe-Contest. All information provided by entrant must be complete, true and correct. Submissions to the Contest must be received by November 05, 2023 at 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) in order to be eligible; entries received after that date will be deemed ineligible to win. All submitted entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned; Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, inaccurate, incomplete, damaged, illegible, or misdirected entries. Each entry must be submitted on an individual basis (i.e., no team, joint, or corporate entries) and all components of the entry must be the original creation of the submitting participant. Only non-commercial work may be submitted. Entries may not contain profanity, nudity, pornographic images, violent images, anti-competition messages, illegal material, or material that violates the rights of third parties. Entries may not include confidential information, trade secrets, trademarks or copyrighted material belonging to any person or entity other than the entrant absent a suitable license or permission agreement, proof of which is required. Entries containing any forbidden matter or material otherwise deemed by Sponsor to be inappropriate will be disqualified. Online entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry.
WINNER SELECTION: A panel of judges consisting of Sponsor personnel will select and award four (4) entries with First Place through Third Place Prizes based on adherence to these Official Rules and the following Recipe criteria, which shall be weighted equally: Use of the Product, Taste, Appearance, Originality, and Consumer Appeal. The Undeniably Dairy Prize entry will be selected based on the criteria outlined above along with the use of two (2) or more Real dairy products such as Real Butter, Milk, Cream Cheese, Heavy Cream, Cheese, Yogurt, Buttermilk, or Sour Cream.
All winners will be notified of final prize(s) on or about December 1, 2023. By entering, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and that the decisions of the judges are final and binding in all respects. Sponsor reserves the right not to select any winning submissions based upon the quality or content of submissions. Potential winners may be required to sign and return a sworn Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release. If required documentation is not returned within seven (7) business days of notification, or if notification is returned as undeliverable, any prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected.
PRIZE AWARDS: Prizes will be awarded within sixty (60) days after winner verification. No prize substitution or transfer is permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, for any reason. Sponsor is required by law to report prize values to taxing authorities; all taxes and any other incidental expenses on prizes are the sole responsibility of each winner.
GENERAL RULES & LIMITATIONS: By entering a Recipe, you represent that: (i) your Recipe is your own original work; and (ii) you own or have the rights to convey any and all right and title in any material submitted as part of your entry into the Contest. By entering, you grant to Sponsor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, publish, promote, republish at any time in the future and otherwise use your Recipe along with your name and likeness, in any and all media for any purpose, without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law). By participating in the Contest, you agree to release Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, directors, officers, and agents from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, possession, use, or misuse of any prize. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures, or other errors or problems which may occur in connection with the Contest, whether computer, network, technical, mechanical, typographical, printing, human or otherwise, including, without limitation, errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing or judging of entries, the announcement of the prizes, in any Contest-related materials, or that may limit prize fulfillment or a participant’s ability to enter the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to amend these Official Rules and to disqualify permanently from the Contest any person it believes has intentionally violated these Official Rules.
WINNER’S LIST: For the names of prize winners, send a self-addressed, stamped No. 10 envelope to: Stephan & Brady, Inc., “Real Butter Holiday Cookie Recipe Contest” Prize Winners, 1352 E. Wilson St., Madison, WI 53703. All requests for the winners list must be received by December 31, 2023.
