Homemade Caramel Sauce

Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream, warmed
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
Instructions
Step 1
Combine butter and sugar in a large saucepan or pot over medium heat.Step 2
Let mixture melt and come to a simmer, stirring gently until the butter is melted and sugar dissolved.Step 3
Allow mixture to cook until the color is deep golden brown, occasionally swirling the pan or giving a gentle stir to prevent the sugar from burning. Try to avoid stirring too much to ensure the sugar doesn’t crystallize.Step 4
Remove from heat and slowly pour in warmed heavy cream. Place the pan back over low heat and continue to stir until mixture is smooth and thickened.Step 5
