During my youth, there was nary a school morning that went by that I didn’t have cereal for breakfast. Being a self-sufficient kind of kid, my mom happily placed the cereal box in the bottom cupboard, I’d hop up on the counter to pull out the bowl, pour way too much sugar on the cereal, cloak it all in milk and top it with another dousing of sugar.
Really healthy, right? What she didn’t know didn’t hurt her and I seem to have turned out all right.
But since my elementary days, cereal has made a foray into other culinary avenues, often turning up as easy and munchable appetizers and snacks. This savory rendition combines it with sourdough pretzel bites and Marcona almonds baked in a buttery, cheesy coating.
