Best Coffee Cake
This delicious coffee cake is best made with real butter. Not only does it ensure a soft and light cake, but it also binds together the streusel topping and adds rich flavor throughout. Trust us, you won’t be able to have just one slice!

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 cup sour cream, at room temperature
- 1 1/4 cups milk, at room temperature
Step 1Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9" x 13" pan.
Step 2Whisk together the sugar, flour and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Stir in melted butter. Set aside.
Step 3Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl; set aside.
Step 4In a large bowl, beat the butter, sugars, salt and vanilla until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 5In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk together the sour cream and milk.
Step 6Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk/sour cream mixture, mixing until smooth.
Step 7Spread half the batter (about 3 cups) into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the filling over the batter. Spread the remaining batter over the top of the filling. Use a knife to gently swirl the filling into the batter (like a marble cake).
Step 8Sprinkle the topping over the batter. Bake the cake for 50-55 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
