  • For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped (or use chips)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the Trifles:

  • 6 ounces fresh blueberries
  • 6 ounces fresh raspberries
  • 6 ounces fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Brownies:

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 9x13-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.

Step 2

In saucepan set over low heat, melt butter and chocolate. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat and add sugar and salt. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Stir in vanilla extract. Add flour and stir until just combined.

Step 3

Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake until edges are set, about 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely.

For the Trifles:

Step 4

Toss the blueberries, raspberries and strawberries with 2 tablespoons of the sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes.

Step 5

In large bowl, beat heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer to soft peaks. Add vanilla and remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and continue beating to medium peaks.

Step 6

Cut cooled brownies into cubes. Layer cubed brownies, juicy berries and sweetened whipped cream into 8 ounce glasses or jars. Chill in fridge until ready to serve.
