How To Make Croutons

Buttery croutons are a simple way to add elevated flavor and a satisfying crunch to your favorite dishes. All you need is some bread, melted butter, and a little oven time. Baked until golden and crisp, they’re rich, toasty, and way better than store-bought.

Get Started

Step 1: Cube Bread

Cube sourdough (or bread of choice) into 8 cups of 1-inch squares.

Step 2: Melt Butter

In a small bowl, melt 1 ½ cups of unsalted butter. Mix in 2 teaspoons of garlic powder.

Step 3: Toss

Drizzle bread cubes with butter mixture. Toss until the mixture coats all the cubes; this will ensure even browning when baking and optimal flavor.

Step 4: Season

Spread bread cubes out evenly on parchment-lined sheet pan. Season with fresh herb of choice, salt and pepper.

Step 5: Bake

Bake cubes for 8-10 minutes at 400°F, tossing halfway through, or until golden brown.

Step 6: Cool & Enjoy

Allow croutons to cool completely. Use them to top your favorite salads, soups, and more!
